The fine details on this piece remind me of examining all the different shrubs in this area, a wide variety that I’d never seen before among the usual desert sage and pine. It’s soft colors also bring to mind the gentle slopes of this landscape.

The detailed drawing is done slowly and carefully with ink and brush over more loose brushstrokes in colour, combining control with expression, spontaneity with restraint. Putting ink to paper and observing what takes place sparks my imagination and reminds me that we are constantly unfolding with the universe.
