The Taos Plateau is high and dry. It’s a flat field of seemingly endless sage under a sky that feels so clear and so close. This drawing has both those colors but it’s also starker in contrast and just feels extra crisp and severe which captures the mood of this place well.

The detailed drawing is done slowly and carefully with ink and brush over more loose brushstrokes in colour, combining control with expression, spontaneity with restraint. Putting ink to paper and observing what takes place sparks my imagination and reminds me that we are constantly unfolding with the universe.
