The green river in Moab, Utah is as close to an oasis as I’ve ever seen. In the middle of this stark, red desert, the wide canyon, and slow-moving river that flow through it feel so gentle and inviting. Some rivers rush, this river wanders. This drawing has that same soft and restful feeling and I hope that tranquility comes through for everyone, in the way that it does for me.

The detailed drawing is done slowly and carefully with ink and brush over more loose brushstrokes in colour, combining control with expression, spontaneity with restraint. Putting ink to paper and observing what takes place sparks my imagination and reminds me that we are constantly unfolding with the universe.
