Sun Rock is recognizable by a big rock on the side of the road with a big sun painted on it. This is an absolutely gorgeous spot overlooking Okanagan lake and it’s right at the very edge of the desert, one or two turns beyond this point and you’re entering a more alpine area where sage gives way to pine and holly. Not only is the yellow brushstroke in this drawing particularly sunny, but the sprig of sage featured was picked there.

The detailed drawing is done slowly and carefully with ink and brush over more loose brushstrokes in colour, combining control with expression, spontaneity with restraint. Putting ink to paper and observing what takes place sparks my imagination and reminds me that we are constantly unfolding with the universe.
