Named after a wild area in southern New Mexico, this piece brings to mind escaping the summer heat in a shady ravine. Nowhere else to be, an entire afternoon whiled away in the shade, exploring caves and listening to the garble of wild turkeys in the distance.

The detailed drawing is done slowly and carefully with ink and brush over more loose brushstrokes in colour, combining control with expression, spontaneity with restraint. Putting ink to paper and observing what takes place sparks my imagination and reminds me that we are constantly unfolding with the universe.
